A Family Legacy of Quality Service
TRC Heating & Air was founded in 1985, when Daniel Todd sought independence and built a company rooted in craftsmanship, pride, and referrals.
TRC was never formally defined — often joked that it could stand for many things Daniel did — because Daniel was a true general contractor who mastered a wide range of skills, including:
- Kitchen and bathroom remodels
- Deck construction and drywall repairs
- Dry-rot repair and structural reinforcement
- Attic ventilation
- Skylights (his personal favorite — none of his roof penetrations ever leaked)
Daniel lived entirely off referrals. He took pride in doing things the right way, and it showed in every job.
Over time, TRC evolved into a full-service heating and air conditioning company through Daniel’s son, Chris Todd, who proudly carries those same values forward today.
Chris began working alongside his father at a very young age and officially entered the trade at 15 years old through an ROP program at Rio Americano High School in Carmichael — the only student from his school accepted into the program.
By 18, Chris had already launched his own small business, Loco Haul (“prices so low it’s crazy”), before realizing his true calling was mastering a skilled trade.
Chris later joined Bonney Plumbing, Heating & Air, where he trained under Gary Hickey. There, Chris became a highly capable and well-rounded HVAC technician, excelling in both installations and repairs
However, one thing never sat right with him — sales pressure.
Repeated expectations to upsell services he didn’t believe homeowners truly needed tested his morals and eroded trust with customers. That was the turning point.
Chris chose to leave and start his own heating and air company — one built on:
